The political leadership of the United States intends to deliver anti-ship missiles to Ukraine to strengthen its coastal security, the Voice of America reports.
A senior White House official confirmed that the Americans will send Ukraine weapons with which to secure the country against attacks from the sea.
“We are supporting Ukraine and working to help it improve its coastal defense. As part of that effort, we are providing Ukraine with unmanned coastal defense vessels. We are also working with allies and partners to provide Ukraine with anti-ship missiles and systems. We communicate with the Ukrainians on a daily basis about their needs,” the official said.
One of the main goals of supplying anti-ship missiles is to de-block Ukrainian ports and to be able to transport grain.
